Graphic Arts

I originally created this piece for an art class.  I uploaded it to a web folder that contained essays and other homework.  Although technically available to the world, I never imagined this folder would attract any attention.  Imagine my surprise when I found the image displayed on the web page of a German technical university and the t-shirts of Baylor University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science.  Odd to think a bunch of kids in Texas are walking around with my head on the back of their shirts.

       Aaron Miller for Quad Senator

  Campaign Poster

When my roommate ran for student senate, I agreed to make the posters. He did not have a campaign platform, but he did have a hairy chest. Unfortunately, we did not actually shave "VOTE 4 AARON" into his chest, so I had to use Adobe Photoshop. The poster was convincing enough that friends made him raise his shirt to see the damage. Aaron won the race by a large margin.

 Brandeis Reading Lists
Simple Poster

Full color glossy prints are not always available or affordable. Luckily, a simple ad can be very effective. Just after launching a new text book selling website, I covered my campus with three hundred ads printed on colored computer paper.
I had sixteen different versions, all with the same layout, but different slogans. I hung the posters in groups of four, mixing informative and humors slogans together.
After two weeks, one fourth of the student body had visited my site. One student, who I did not know, found me in the cafeteria and asked if I had extra posters. She and her friends thought the different posters were so clever that they were collecting one of each to decorate their rooms.

       Brandeis Mountain Club

T-Shirt

T-shirts are surprisingly cheap and effective ways to advertise. This fun t-shirt was a big hit and helped advertised the many activities the club participates in. A well designed T-shirt will stick around for years and make everyone wearing it a spokesman.
